The 19th Annual CineSol Film Festival is now accepting entries in all genres including comedy, drama, animation, shorts, horror and documentary. CineSol is a month long event in September with additional screenings at several Rio Grande Valley outreaches. Other activities include film workshops, the 36 Hour Film Race, special guests, forum discussions, and more.

Dallas VideoFest 24 Hour Video Race
Team registration is open for the Dallas VideoFest 24 Hour Video Race. Teams will have 24 hours to write, shoot, edit and score an original short film. This year's race will begin at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas on Friday May, 4 with a theme, prop, location and line of dialogue assignment for the film. The race concludes 24 hours later with a sprint to the finish line back at the Angelika. All of the films submitted the deadline will be entered in to competition for the 2012 Dallas VideoFest in September. Registration is open until 12 p.m. May 4, 2012.

Cinema Touching Disability
The Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival and Short Film Competition is the first and longest-running disability film festival in Texas. Now accepting short film submissions (3 - 20 minutes) made about a disability or starring / produced / directed by a person with a disability. There are two divisions for the competition: Emerging Filmmakers (ages 18 +) and Scholastic Filmmakers (grades 6 - 12).

Texas Filmmakers Showcase
Presented by the Houston Film Commission, the Texas Filmmakers Showcase is a special screening event consisting of the best of Texas short films and videos (less than 40 minutes in length) shown to studio executives, agents and producers in the Hollywood film community. The filmmakers whose projects are selected to participate will travel to Los Angeles to attend the screening.
The screening is accompanied by a reception where filmmakers and industry professionals meet to discuss filmmaking, financing, distribution and additional industry issues. The first screening of the 2012 Texas Filmmakers Showcase will be held in Los Angeles in June with additional public screenings shown throughout Texas during the rest of the year.

Fantastic Fest
Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world. Entries are open for the 2012 festival, to be held in Austin September 20 - 27.
