Films for the Forest

The 2015 Films for the Forest (F3) call for submissions is now open. The theme for this year's film competition is ImaginEarth, and the festival hopes it will inspire filmmakers both novice and professional, and of all ages, to create and submit a forest-related short film. Created by the Austin-based non-profit Rainforest Partnership in 2009, the goal of this competition is to create awareness of the challenges facing forests and their communities.

The three judges this year are Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater, actress and humanitarian Eloise DeJoria and film culture expert Taylor Ellison. All films that the judges choose as Official Selections will be screened as a part of the SXSW Film Festival Community Film Screenings in Austin, and films under four minutes long are preferred.

For the first time, F3 will award the Peace, Love & Happiness Award, a $1,000 cash prize. Sponsored by JP's Peace Love & Happiness Foundation, the award will go to the winning film in the Short Shorts category.
