Oct 22, 2012 - 'Bernie,' 'Kid-Thing' and 'Trash Dance' Nominated for IFP Gotham Awards
Three Texas-made films, "Bernie," "Kid-Thing" and "Trash Dance" were recently nominated for Gotham Independent Film Awards. Directed by Richard Linklater, "Bernie" is nominated for Best Feature and Best Ensemble Performance. "Bernie" filmed in Bastrop, Austin and Carthage and stars Matthew McConaughey, Jack Black and Shirley MacLaine.
"Kid-Thing," is nominated for Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You®. The category recognizes films that have achieved critical acclaim on the fetival circuit but have not been released theatrically by a distributor or self-distributed. Directed by David Zellner, "Kid-Thing" filmed in Austin and Bryan, Texas.
The documentary feature "Trash Dance" is nominated for an Audience Award. Directed by Andrew Garrison, the film chronicles choreographer Allison Orr's unique performance by two dozen trash collectors and their trucks on an abandoned airport runway in Austin. Films in this category are voted on by the public and the winner will be announced at this year's ceremony.
