Texas Talent Agency Laws

Until now, businesses who obtain, or attempt to obtain, employment for artists in Texas have been required by law to obtain licenses from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). With recent enactment of legislation (H.B. 3167) by the 82nd Texas Legislature, talent agencies are no longer required to be certified by the State of Texas. This means that those talent agencies who obtained certificates, or renewals, during Fiscal Year 2011 (or since September 1, 2010) will be receiving a refund of fees paid to the Department for those certificates.
