"The catastrophic earthquake in Haiti has captured the consciences of people from all over the world, and, consistent with their character, the people of Texas have been at the forefront of relief efforts. From the everyday individuals donating what they can to various organizations to the community groups pulling together resources from area residents, the spirit of 'neighbor helping neighbor' continues as one of Texas' proudest traditions. If you would like information on how you can help the victims of this earthquake, we have provided links to several charities assisting in the response to this disaster. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, those working to save lives and ease pain, and the families and friends of those affected by this horrible event." - Governor Rick Perry
