    Commissioner Geeslin is in the field and will make several visits to the impacted areas on Monday. TDI staff are assisting consumers at FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in East Texas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin, and are awaiting opening of several additional DRCs this week. All other TDI activities continuing.

    TDI will send insurance assistance staff to each of the 9 Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) that FEMA is opening today. Locations of each DRC will be posted to TDI's Hurricane Ike web resource page.

    TDI staff are visiting evacuee shelters in Austin, San Antonio, and East Texas to assist consumers with insurance questions and to help them make contact with their insurance companies.

    TDI is informing insurers of what will be expected of them in the coming weeks as they respond to consumers (http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/bulletins/cat96. html). TDI staff is planning to visit shelters in Austin, San Antonio and in East Texas to offer displaced consumers assistance with contacting their insurance companies to begin the claims process.
