    Gov. Perry Celebrates Reopening of Honeywell Facility in Orange
    ORANGE – Gov. Rick Perry today joined employees, area residents and local leaders at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand reopening of the Honeywell Specialty Additives facility in Orange. The facility was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

    Gov. Perry Announces $6 Million Award to Bluewater Highway Shoreline Stabilization Project
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the state will award more than $6 million from funds appropriated by the Legislature for disaster relief to the Bluewater Highway (County Road 257) Shoreline Stabilization Project to help repair damage incurred along the highway during Hurricane Ike. The funds will be used to complete road restoration along the highway, including temporary repairs and protections that will allow for two-way traffic and also serve as a foundation for permanent repairs that will return the highway to its pre-Ike capacity.

    Gov. Perry Urges HUD to End Delays on Texas Hurricane Recovery Funding
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry sent a letter yesterday to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan urging the expedited approval of Texas’ disaster recovery funding. HUD claimed last week that “there is no compelling need to immediately approve” Texas’ application for continued recovery funding for hurricanes Ike and Dolly.

    Gov. Perry Announces $8.6 Million for Bridge City ISD for Hurricane Ike Recovery
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the state has provided $8.6 million to Bridge City Independent School District to assist in the construction of a new elementary school campus, replacing two schools badly damaged by Hurricane Ike. These funds are part of House Bill 4586, appropriated to the Trusteed Programs in the Office of the Governor as additional funding beyond the general disaster relief provisions of HB 4102.

    AUSTIN – Texans affected by Hurricane Ike have until midnight Friday, February 20, to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for assistance under the FEMA Individual and Households Program. A pre-screening questionnaire and registration may be completed online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov or at 1-800- 621- FEMA.

    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today appealed the Federal Emergency Management Administration's (FEMA) denial to extend for 18 months 100 percent reimbursement of emergency protective measures, and debris removal, and other Public Assistance work areas (Categories A-G) for Hurricane Ike. FEMA notified the Governor's Office on November 26 that only six months of debris removal (Category A) was approved for 100 percent reimbursement.

    HOUSTON – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the creation of the Governor’s Commission for Disaster Recovery and Renewal, an advisory panel of public and private sector experts who will create a plan to assist Texas communities with recovery efforts after a natural disaster.
