Action Items
» Gov. Perry proposed amendments that would require a two-thirds vote of the Legislature to increase taxes, and require the Legislature to limit growth in the state budget to no more than growth in population and inflation combined.
» Gov. Perry advocated an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, requiring Congress to balance the federal budget.
» Gov. Perry announced nearly $800,00 in grants to combat human trafficking.
» Gov. Rick Perry announced initiatives to increase the monitoring and punishment of the most dangerous sex offenders, building on the success of recent initiatives like the Texas Ten Most Wanted Sex Offender list.
» Gov. Perry has also recommended creating a tax incentive for employers who grant their employees two hours a week of paid time off to return to school or study for their GED. Once the employee has received their diploma or GED, the employer is then eligible to receive $1,500 per student in credit toward sales tax liability.
» Gov. Perry signed House Bill (HB) 4765 to cut taxes for Texas small business owners
» Gov. Perry signed legislation protecting Texas property owners.
