through private music instruction in many of the area schools.

Lamar University Department of Music, Theatre
and Dance. Degrees in music include a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music leading
to teacher certification, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts (Music Business),
Master of Music, and Master of Music Education. More than 150 students are enrolled
in music programs. Music faculty includes 13 full time professors and 8 part time
faculty. Located just minutes from the Gulf shores and near the Big Thicket National
Preserve, Lamar University is the ideal choice for the serious music student who
values the serenity this type of environment has to offer. Performance opportunities

Performance facilities include the University Theatre (500 seats) and the Rothwell
Recital Hall (150 seats). Many concerts, including the subscription concert series
Lamarissimo!, are performed in downtown Beaumont's Julie Rogers Theatre (1,700
seats).
