Brookhaven College's music department
offers training and performing opportunities to pursue a career in music as well
as numerous courses designed for a student who is interested in just personal
music enrichment. Brookhaven's music program addresses educational needs with
small classes and with instructors working along side each student. Students can
take an array of music courses including: theory, music literature, composition,
digital music, appreciation, private music lessons in voice and all instruments,
and participate in numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles. The Music Department
facility boasts the latest in a piano laboratory, computerized theory lab, electronic
recording studio, and a digital music lab. We offer a core curriculum that is
equivalent to freshman and sophomore levels at other university programs. Also,
through a special 2+2 articulation agreement with the University of North Texas,
Brookhaven music majors can transfer to UNT and will be accepted as junior level
music majors after having successfully completed the music core curriculum. Performance
opportunities include: Classical Guitar Ensemble, Carlo Pezzimenti; Jazz Guitar
Ensemble, Jim Shannon; Handbell Ensemble, Bonnie Riddle; Vocal Jazz Ensemble,
Elaine Gardner- Morales; Flute Ensemble, Pam Youngblood; Brookhaven Choral Society,
Melody Gamblin-Bullock; Windsong Ensemble, Melody Gamblin-Bullock; Lab Band, Kieth
Umbach ; Jazz Combo, Roy Allen; String Ensemble, Octavio Guiterrez; and Keyboard
