Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is a graduate-level
seminary offering the degrees Master of Music, Master of Arts in Church Music,
Master of Arts in Worship, Doctor or Musical Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in
Music. Areas of concentration in the Master of Music degree include: Accompanying,
Composition, Conducting, Music Education, Music History, Music Ministry, Music
Missions, Music Theory, Orchestral Instruments, Organ Performance, Piano Performance,
Voice Pedagogy/Literature, and Voice Performance. Doctor of Musical Arts concentrations
include: Composition, Conducting, Organ Performance, Piano, Voice and Music Literature.
Doctor of Philosophy concentrations include: Music Theory, Musicology and Music
Ministry. Numerous scholarships are available after one semester either by recommendation
and/or audition. Performance opportunities include: Oratorio Chorus (required
for all music students; Wind Ensemble (40 members, Dr. William Mac Davis, Director,
ext. 3130); Southwestern Singers (45 members, Dr. Michael Cox Director, ext. 6070);
Handbell Choir (15 members, Dr. Gordon Borror, Director, ext. 3135); Wind Ensemble
and New Sound Jazz (Dr. William Mac Davis, Director, ext. 3130); and String Ensemble.
Performance facilities include Reynolds Auditorium (500 seats) and Truett Auditorium
(1,200 seats); Steve Storie, Media Services Director at (817) 923-1921 (ext. 6120).
