The
Department of Music at Texas A&M University at Kingsville offers comprehensive
programs leading to a Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music in Music
Education (teacher certification), Bachelor of Arts with a minor or Music, Master
of Music in Music Education. The music programs prepare students for various careers
as music educators, administrators, and professional musicians. Venues include
Jones Auditorium and the Smith Recital Hall. Performance opportunities include
the Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Bands I, II, and III, Jazz
Combo, Brass Ensembles, Percussion Ensembles, Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, Jazz
Singers, Musical Theatre, Mariachi Javelina, and Woodwind Ensembles. Performance
facilities include the Bellamah Music Building which is located in the Frank C.
Smith Fine Arts Group and contains classrooms, studios, practice facilities, rehearsal
halls, music library, computer learning center, recital hall, and auditorium.
