Cedar Valley is one of seven college
campuses in the Dallas County Community College District. It is the only campus
offering an Associate in Commercial Music and Recording Technology. When the campus
opened in 1977, CVC boasted the first commercial music program in Texas, and serves
as a model for others. Degree options include Recording Technology, Music Retailing,
Music Performance, and Composition/Arranging/Copying. Course work includes: The
Business of Music, MIDI Sequencing, Jingle Writing, and Recording Engineering.
The instructors are selected for their professional backgrounds and teaching abilities
and are some of the finest performers in the metroplex. Facilities include recording
studios A and B featuring 16-track capabilities (contact Kerby Stewart at (972)

Performance opportunities include the Lab Band (12 members; Roger Dismore, Director),

Keyboard Ensemble (13 members; Arlington Jones, Director). Performance facility
is the Performance Hall (400 seats).
