The Creative Arts Department at South Plains College offers three unique programs for the entertainment industry. The Commercial Music program offers training for instrumentalists and vocalists who plan to work in the professional entertainment field. The Sound Technology program provides training for students who want to be recording engineers, studio producers, and sound reinforcement technicians. The Sound Technology program features state-of-the-art recording studios which enable the students to gain hands-on training in high-quality audio and audio-for-video productions. Studios include the Tom T. Hall Production Studio, Waylon Jennings Studio, and Redd Stewart Television Studio. The Video Production Technology program trains students for all aspects of public entertainment events. Students in this program receive in-depth training in television production, lighting, sound reinforcement, and stage craft. South Plains College is also known for their Bluegrass instruction and holds a Bluegrass camp each year. The Commercial Music Program offers comprehensive training and instruction in all styles of popular music. Performance opportunities are numerous; all styles including country, rock, jazz, Tejano, gospel, etc. Performance facility is the Tom T. Hall Production Studio (400 seats).
