Stephen F. Austin University's Department of Music has more than 300 music majors. The Department has 35 faculty members (most with doctorates), each committed to challenging gifted students preparing for a variety of educational and professional opportunities. The choral and instrumental ensembles within the Department have received national recognition and have toured internationally. Large ensemble experiences are balanced with chamber music opportunities in groups such as Chamber Winds, Jazz Ensemble, Madrigal Singers, and numerous quintets and quartets. The department also offers outstanding programs in Opera, Composition and Keyboard. Considered an ideal size, the Department of Music at Stephen F.
