College of the Mainland Music Program offers
an Associate of Arts in Music Degree. The program is designed for individuals
interested in pursuing a career in music. The two-year course of study is transferable
to a four-year music program. Transferring students should check the degree requirements
of the institution to which they plan to transfer. The music major must complete
a balanced program, including music theory, sight-singing and ear training, music
literature, private instruction on a major instrument, performance in ensembles
and complete the state required core curriculum. State of the Art Computer Assisted
Instructional Music Lab established in January 2001. Music Scholarships are available
for those who qualify. Additional affiliations include the International Association
of Jazz Educators, Texas Choral Directors Association, and the Music Teachers
National Association. Performance opportunities are available. For the following
