Tyler
Junior College is the largest single-campus junior college in the state with an
enrollment of more than 9,000 students. We offer an Associate of Art in Music
and an Associate of Art in Fine Arts. In addition to regular music classes, Tyler
Junior College offers Sound Production Technology courses. Dedicated to giving
students individual attention, our instructors are qualified professionals interested
in helping students reach their full potential. Performance opportunities include
the Apache Band (130 members), Jazz Band (20 members), and Wind Ensemble (40 members)--under
the direction of Thomas Mensch III, Thomas McGowan and Heather Mensch (903) 510-2242;
A Cappella Choir (50 members)-- under the direction of Cheryl Rogers, (903) 510-2483;
and the pop group, Harmony (14 members) and Understanding under the direction
of Dr. Cheryl Rogers, (903) 510-2483. Performance facilities include the Wise
Auditorium (753 seats) and Jean Browne Theater (200 seats), both supervised by

The Music Department at the University
of Texas at Tyler offers all-level certification in music through a BA in music
performance, a BS in music, and a Master of Arts or Master of Science in Interdisciplinary
Studies. Performance opportunities include the Chamber Choir (24 members), Concert
Chorale (50 members), Symphonic Band (70 members), Wind Ensemble (38 members),
Chamber Orchestra (40 members), and Jazz Band (17 members). Performance facilities
are: the Vaughn Auditorium (2,000 seats), the Braithwaite Recital Hall (175 seats)
and the Theatre (250 seats).
