The Department of Music at Midwestern State
University offers a Bachelor of Music in Performance and a Bachelor of Music with
teacher certification. The University has a state-of-the-art electronic music
laboratory featuring eight synthesizers, a Teac multitrack analog recorder, and
Sony DAT. The Music Department offers studies in jazz, jazz/rock, jazz choir,
opera, and all traditional areas of orchestral studies. Performance opportunities
include the University Marching Band (110 members), University Symphonic Band
(70 members), University Jazz Ensemble (25 members), University Pep Band (40 members),
University Singers (50 members), Midwestern Singers (15 members), Oratorio Chorus
(90 members), Opera Workshop (25 members), Percussion Ensemble and Fusion Winterguard.
Musical directors include Dr. Larry Archambo, Alan Black, Dr. Linda Jones, and
Dr. Don Maxwell. Performance facilities include the Akin Auditorium (425 seats)
which is outstanding for music performances in an intimate setting, and the Fine
Arts Theatre (450 seats) which is ideal for theatrical productions (contact Eunice
