Gov. Perry Appoints Rodriguez to Rio Grande Regional Water Authority
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Roel Rodriguez of McAllen to the municipal class position on the Rio Grande Regional Water Authority Board of Directors for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011. The board develops water policies, manages floods and protects the quality of water for the Rio Grande that borders Willacy, Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, Zapata and Webb counties.
Rodriguez is general manager of the City of McAllen’s Public Utility and assistant McAllen city manager. He is president of the South Texas Water Utility Managers Association, and a member of the Lower Rio Grande Water Committee, Texas City Management Association, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, and American Water Works Association. He is also an appointee to the Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of Trustees.
Rodriguez received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas Pan American.
