Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Texas A&M University System Board of Regents
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2015.
Phil Adams of Bryan is owner of Phil Adams Company. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Philosophical Society of Texas and Million Dollar Round Table’s Top of the Table. He is also a member of the American Momentum Bank and Texas Public Policy Foundation boards of directors. Adams received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. He replaces Erle Nye of Dallas.
Bill Jones of Austin is a partner at Vinson and Elkins LLP. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Texas Bar Association and State Bar of Texas. He is also a member of the Texas State Historical Museum Foundation and Memorial Hermann Healthcare System Community Care boards of directors. Jones received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from Baylor University. He is being reappointed.
Jim Schwertner of Austin is president and CEO of Schwertner Farms Inc., doing business as Capitol Land & Livestock. He is chairman of Schwertner State Bank and the Seton Williamson Foundation, director of the Texas Beef Council, and past chairman of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He is also past president of the Texas Livestock Market Association, and a past director of the Capitol Diabetes Association. Schwertner received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. He replaces John White of Houston.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
