Gov. Perry Reappoints McLeroy Chair of Texas State Board of Education

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Don McLeroy of College Station as chair of the Texas State Board of Education for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011. The board and education commissioner oversee the state’s public school system.
McLeroy is a dentist in private practice. He is a member of the American Dental Association. He is also a member of Gideons International, past a member of the Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach Board of Directors, and served as a Boy Scout leader and Bryan Soccer Club coach. McLeroy served in the U.S. Army, and received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a doctorate of dentistry from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston.
This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
