Gov. Perry Appoints Mathis and Unruh to One Call Board
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Barbara J. Mathis of Lufkin and Rodney J. Unruh of Spring Branch to the State One Call Board for terms to expire Aug. 31, 2011. The board has authority over “Call Before You Dig” systems that notify underground facility operators of excavation plans so pipelines and utility lines can be marked to prevent accidents.
Mathis is a retired human resources manager and active community volunteer. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, and past chair of the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce Drug Committee and Texas Telephone Association Human Resource Committee. She is also a volunteer at the Museum of East Texas. Mathis received an associate degree from Pineywoods Business College. She replaces Deborah E. Farris of Dallas.
Unruh is the director of network services for AT&T. He is a member of the AT&T Pioneers and Riverside Community Church. Unruh received a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University. He replaces Steven F. Landon of Colleyville.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
