Gov. Perry Appoints Chism and Patterson to Texas Private Security Board
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed John E. Chism of Irving and appointed Patrick A. Patterson of Boerne to the Texas Private Security Board for terms to expire Jan. 31, 2015. The board licenses private investigation, security guard, burglar alarm, courier, armored car, locksmith and access control companies. The board also approves training schools for security officers and instructors, and continuing education schools for the regulated industries.
Chism is owner of John Chism Investigations. He is a life member of the International and Dallas Police associations, and a member of the International Intelligence Investigators Association, National Association of Legal Investigators and National Council of Investigative and Security Specialists. He is also chair of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators Board Advisory Committee, a past member of the Irving Youth Commission Board of Directors, and a volunteer with the Irving Police Department. Chism served in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps, and received an associate degree from El Centro College. He will continue to serve as chair of the board.
Patterson is a retired FBI agent and vice president of security for Harland Clarke Corporation. He served as a consultant to the FBI on counterintelligence issues following his retirement. Patterson received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from Elmira College. He replaces Harold Warren of Austin.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
