Gov. Perry Names Fillmore Justice of the 5th Court of Appeals

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Robert M. Fillmore of Plano justice of the 5th Court of Appeals for a term to expire at the next general election. The court presides over Hunt, Kaufman, Dallas, Collin, Rockwall and Grayson counties and handles appeals in all civil, family and criminal cases.

Fillmore is an attorney and partner at Hunton and Williams L.L.P., and an adjunct faculty member of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He is an elected fellow of the American and Texas Bar foundations, and past chairman of the Public Utility Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources Special Committee on Restructuring of the Electric Industry. He is also a former assistant attorney general and special assistant attorney general in the state of Kansas, and a former adjunct faculty member at the University of Kansas School of Law. Fillmore received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Kansas. He replaces Amos Mazzant of  Sherman.

This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
