Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for terms to expire Jan. 31, 2015. The board licenses and regulates the profession of physical therapy in Texas.
Kevin Lindsey of Mission is a program director for RehabCare Group Inc. at Mission Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. He is a member of the American and Texas Physical Therapy associations, and a past member of VAMOS. He is also past chair of Hands of Hope, a leader and past missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, and an EMT for Volunteer Medical Services Corporation. Lindsey received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in physical therapy from Arcadia University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Texas Pan American. He replaces Joseph J. Spano of Wharton.
Rene Pena of El Paso is president of Pena Briones McDaniel and Company. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, El Paso Pension Board of Trustees, and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants Board of Directors. He is a past member of the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists and Texas Healthy Kids Corporation. Pena received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He replaces Manoranjan Mahadeva of The Woodlands.
Melinda A. Rodriguez of San Antonio is CEO and Administrator for Access Quality Therapy Services, and an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Texas Association of Home Care, and is president of the Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame. She is also a member of the Alamo Parkinson’s Support Group Board of Directors. Rodriguez received a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas and a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Boston University. She is being reappointed.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
