Gov. Perry Names Bradley Chair of the Texas Forensic Science Commission
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has named John M. Bradley of Georgetown chair and appointed Norma J. Farley of Harlingen to the Texas Forensic Science Commission for terms to expire Sept. 1, 2011. The commission oversees professional conduct in forensic laboratories and facilities in Texas.
Bradley is the Williamson County District Attorney. He is a board member and publications committee chairman of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association, president of the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, and a member of the Williamson County Bar Association and State Bar Journal Editorial Board. He is also past secretary of the Williamson County Bail Bond Board and a past member of the State Bar of Texas Committee on Crime Victims and Witnesses. He is the recipient of the 2009 Prosecutor of the Year award given by the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association at the Annual Criminal and Civil Law Update conference. Bradley received a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He replaces Alan Levy of Fort Worth whose term expired September 1.
Farley is chief forensic pathologist for Hidalgo and Cameron counties and an associate professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center College of Medicine in San Antonio. She is a member of the American and Texas Medical associations and Cameron County Medical Society, and a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, College of American Pathologists and National Association of Medical Examiners. She is also a member of the Hidalgo County Child Fatality Review Committee and Child Protective Services Child Safety Review Committee. Farley received a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and completed her forensic pathology fellowship at the Bexar County Forensic Science Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center. She replaces Aliece Watts of Burleson whose term expired September 1.
