Gov. Perry Appoints Adams to OneStar Foundation

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Betty Wu Adams of Austin to the OneStar Foundation for a term to expire March 15, 2013. The foundation connects nonprofits with expertise and resources to build the capacity to meet Texans’ needs, including recruiting and retaining volunteers. The foundation also administers federal AmeriCorps grants, as well as other grants and programs in Texas.

Adams is managing principal of Starpeaks Enterprises LLC. She is a past senior advisor and deputy assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and a past adjunct professor at the Columbia University School of International Public Affairs. She is a board member of the Disability Opportunity Fund, a member of the Columbia University Club of Central Texas and University of Washington Alumni Associations, a past board member of the New York City Workforce Investment Board and Teach for America, and a past member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Workforce Development Council. Adams received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University.
