Gov. Perry Appoints Brown as Justice of First Court of Appeals

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Harvey Brown of Houston as justice of the First Court of Appeals for a term to expire at the next general election.

Brown is a partner of Wright, Brown and Close LLP, and former judge of the 152nd Judicial District Court in Harris County. He is also a former adjunct professor at the University of Houston School of Law. He is a member of the American and Houston Bar associations, State Bar of Texas, Texas and Houston Bar foundations, Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee, Defense Research Institute, and Christian Legal Society. He is also a past member of the State Bar of Texas Continuing Legal Education Committee, a board member of KSBJ Radio, and past president and former board member of Houston Habitat for Humanity. Brown received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Texas.
