Gov. Perry Appoints Six to Brazos River Authority Board of Directors

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed six members to the Brazos River Authority Board of Directors for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The authority develops and conserves surface water resources of the Brazos River Basin.

Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Olson Bourland of Round Rock is an attorney in private practice. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Williamson County Bar Association, and Austin Bar Association. She is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a founding fellow of the Austin Bar Association Foundation, founding fellow and past president of the Austin Young Lawyers Association Foundation, and a Paul Harris fellow of Rotary International. She is also a volunteer with the Williamson County Capital IDEA Education Fund, a past member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and Robert W. Calvert Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and a graduate of Leadership Austin. Bourland received a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

Christopher S. Adams Jr. of Granbury is a retired U.S. Air Force major general, former associate director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and a published author. He is past chair of the Texas A&M University at Commerce Foundation, past president of the Tarleton State University Alumni Association, and a past member of the U.S. Strategic Command Scientific Advisory Board. Adams received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University at Commerce and a master’s degree from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is being reappointed.

Robert M. Christian of Jewett is a retired professional engineer and retired U.S. Army colonel. He is a member of the Texas Water Conservation Association and National Organization of Victims Relief Association, and chaplain for the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. He is also a volunteer with the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Ministry, and a past member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors and the Professional Land Surveyors Association. Christian received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in management from the Florida Institute of Technology, and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Management College. He is being reappointed.

Christopher DeCluitt of Waco is president of the Sovereign Corporation. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American, McLennan County and Aggie Bar associations, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is also director of the Rotary Club of Waco, a life member of the National and Texas State Rifle Associations, and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and J.H. Gurley Masonic Lodge. DeCluitt received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Tulsa. He is being reappointed and will continue to serve as presiding officer of the board.

Carolyn H. Johnson of Freeport is a retired environmental consultant with Dow Chemical Company. She is vice chair of the Brazosport College Board of Regents and Employment for the Physically Disabled Inc. She is a past member of the Texas Chemical Council, Texas Water Conservation Association, and Chemical Manufacturers Association, and past industry representative for the region H Water Planning Committee and Brazos Clean Rivers Committee. She is also past president and former board member of Memorial Childcare Center, past board chair of Brazosport Regional Hospital, and a past member of the Brazosport ISD Drug Free Schools Committee. Johnson received a bachelor’s degree from Lamar University. She is being reappointed.

Jean Killgore of Somerville is a rancher and former legislative assistant to senators Tower and Goldwater, and the Senate Armed Services Committee. She is a past board member of the Brazos Valley Council of Governments Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, Bluebonnet Crime Stoppers Council, and Burleson County Chamber of Commerce. Killgore attended Texas Christian University and is a graduate of the Virginia Real Estate Institute. She is being reappointed.

These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
