Gov. Perry Appoints Eight to Nueces River Authority Board of Directors

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed eight members to the Nueces River Authority Board of Directors. The board manages floods and protects the quality of water for the Nueces River.

Karen Bonner of Corpus Christi is vice president of philanthropy for CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. She is a member of the Association of Healthcare Professionals, Rotary Club of Corpus Christi and Health Information Network of Texas. She is also director of the Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Kennedy Foundation, and past commissioner of the Texas Workforce Investment Council, Texas Cancer Council and Governor's Commission for Women. Bonner received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. She is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.

Laura Clader of Pleasanton is a self-employed real estate agent. She is a member of the San Antonio Board of Realtors and past president of the Pleasanton Sports Booster Club. Clader received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, and is a graduate of the Alamo Real Estate School. She is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.

Judy Creveling of Corpus Christi is a community volunteer. She is a member of the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center Advisory Board, and Foster Angels of South Texas Board of Directors. She is also a sustaining member and past president of the Junior League of Corpus Christi, and a member and past president of the La Retama Club. Creveling received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. She is appointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2013.

John Galloway of Beeville is funeral director of Galloway and Sons Funeral Home. He is a board member of the Bee County Chamber of Commerce and Bee County Development Corporation. He is also a member of the Texas Funeral Directors Association and Beeville Rotary Club. Galloway is a graduate of the Commonwealth College of Sciences. He is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.

Gary Jones of Beeville is vice president of land management for South Texas Children's Home and a risk management consultant for banks in South Texas. He is a past member of the South Texas Children's Home Board of Directors and past chair of the board's Land Use Committee. He is past president of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Beeville, past member of the Bee County Appraisal Board, and past president of the Bee County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a past member of the Beeville School Board, South Texas Hereford Association, and Live Oak Beefmaster Association. Jones also served in the U.S. Air Force. He received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. He is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb.1, 2017.

James ‘Jim' Marmion III of Asherton is manager of Moro Creek Ranch. He is a board member of the Dimmit County Library, Dimmit County Airport Advisory Board and South West Texas Junior College Wildlife Curriculum Program. Marmion received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. He is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.

Fidel Rul Jr. of Alice is a retired senior technical manager in the NASA Office of Space Communications. He is past president of the Alice Rotary Club, and a past assistant scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America in Texas, Guam and Hawaii. He is also former mayor of Alice and a former Alice city council member. Rul served in the U.S. Army. He received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. He is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.

Roxana Tom of Campbellton is a retired accountant and rancher at Tom Brothers Ranch. She is a member of the American Simmental Association, American Angus Association, and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and past president of the Texas Angus Auxiliary. She is also a board member of the Atascosa Hospital Association, past president of the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts and Atascosa County 4-H Leaders Council, and a board member and past president of the San Antonio Bridge League. Tom received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. She is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.
