Gov. Perry Appoints McKinney to State Cemetery Committee
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Michael "Mike" McKinney of Austin to the State Cemetery Committee for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The three-member committee oversees the day-to-day operations of the Texas State Cemetery. As required by statute, this position is appointed by the governor from a list recommended and submitted by the House speaker.
McKinney is executive vice president of the Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas. He is a member and past president of the Wholesale Beer Association Executives, and a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives. He is vice chair of Friends of the Texas State Cemetery, a board member of Austin Scottish Rite Learning Center and the Knights of the Symphony, and a board member and president of the Austin Club. He is also past chair and a past board member of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum Foundation, and a past board member of the Friends of the Governor's Mansion.
McKinney received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas.
