Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians for terms to expire Sept. 1, 2017. The board regulates the licensing and education of dieticians in Texas.
Belinda Bazan-Lara of San Antonio is a registered dietitian and former director of nutritional services at McKenna Memorial Hospital, now Christus Santa Rosa, in New Braunfels. She is a member of the American, Texas and San Antonio Dietetic associations. Bazan-Lara received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and a master's degree in nutrition from the University of Texas, and completed her dietetic traineeship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. She is being reappointed.
Aida "Letty" Moreno-Brown of El Paso is a registered clinical dietitian, regional lead dietitian for Fresenius Medical Care, and an adjunct professor at El Paso Community College. She is chair of the El Paso Council on Renal Nutrition, a member of the American Dietetic Association, and a member and past president of the El Paso Dietetic Association. Moreno-Brown received a bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University and a master's degree in advanced nutrition from the State University of New York College at Oneonta.
Dwight "D.A." Sharpe of Aurora is a retired church administrator. He is a member of the Nimitz Squadron of Texas, Texas Navy Association, Sons of the American Revolution, and Sons of the Republic of Texas. Sharpe received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. He is being reappointed and will continue to serve as a public member on the board.
