Gov. Perry Appoints Braniff and Cooney to Joint Interim Committee to Study Seacoast Territory Insurance
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Thomas Braniff of Houston and Wilson "Bill" Cooney of Fair Oaks Ranch to the Joint Interim Committee to Study Seacoast Territory Insurance for terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor. Pursuant to House Bill 3 of the 82nd legislature, the committee shall conduct a study of alternative ways to provide insurance to the seacoast territory of the state.
Braniff is president of Texas Insurance Consulting, managing partner of Braniff Attorneys and Counselors, and is an insurance and risk management instructor for the University of Houston-Downtown. He is president of the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants, a board member of Texas Insurance Education Foundation, and a member of the Houston and Texas chapters of Independent Insurance Agents. He is also a member and past president of the St. Thomas High School Alumni Association, and a former board member of the St. Thomas Aquinas High School, the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and Duchesne Academy. Braniff received a bachelor's degree and law degree from St. Mary's University.
Cooney is founder and chairman of ForcesFirst, Ltd. and CSG, LLC. He is a board member of Royalton REC and Silverstone Capital. He is chairman emeritus of the Insurance Institute of Business and Home Safety, a board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Antonio, and a member of the Order of the Daedalians. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Cooney is a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and received a bachelor's degree from Park University at Parkville, MO.
