Gov. Perry Appoints Walker to Texas Tech University System

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed John B. Walker of Houston to the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2015.

Walker is president and CEO of EnerVest Ltd. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council, past chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, and a past board member of the Natural Gas Council, Houston Producers' Forum, and Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners. He is also an advisory board member of the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business, a member of the Spring Branch Hispanic Task Force, and past board chairman of the Sam Houston Area Council Boy Scouts of America. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

Walker received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration from New York University.
