Gov. Perry Names Waters Chair of State Library and Archives Commission

Gov. Rick Perry has named Michael Cooper Waters of Dallas as chair of the State Library and Archives Commission for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The commission provides library, informational, archival and records management services to government agencies and individuals.

Waters is a senior healthcare consultant and former CEO of Hendrick Health System. He is a past board member of the Office of Rural Community Affairs Executive Committee, American Healthcare Systems, West Central Municipal Water District, Statewide Health Coordinating Council, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the American and Texas Hospital associations. He is also a member and immediate past president of the Plano Kiwanis Club, past board chair of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Abilene, and a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Abilene. He served in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

Waters received a bachelor's degree from Lamar University and a master's degree in hospital administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
