Gov. Perry Appoints Franco to Texas Economic Development Corp.
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Robert Franco Jr. of Austin to the Texas Economic Development Corp. for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The corporation supports programs and activities of the Governor's Division of Economic Development and Tourism, including TexasOne, which markets Texas competitively and dynamically to businesses outside the state's borders.
Franco is senior vice president of Texas Capital Bank. He is a member of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and treasurer and a board member of the Teatro Vivo Board. He is past board chair and a past board member of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a past representative of the Austin Economic Development Council, and a past board member of Austin Voices for Youth and Education. He is also a past member of the Austin Independent School District Middle School Strategic Planning Task Force and Oak Hill Rotary Club, a past volunteer for Junior Achievement of Central Texas, and a past student mentor for Johnston High School.
Franco received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas Pan American and a Master of Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University.
