Gov. Perry Appoints Tate as Pecos River Compact Commissioner
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Rick Tate of Marfa as the Pecos River Compact Commissioner for a term to expire Jan. 23, 2017. The commission ensures Texas receives its equitable share of quality water from the Pecos River and its tributaries as apportioned by the compact.
Tate is a cattle rancher. He is director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and Texas Livestock Marketing Association, and a member of the Far West Texas Water Planning Group, Independent Cattlemen's Association of Texas and National Rifle Association. He is also president of the Davis Mountains Trans-Pecos Heritage Association, and past board president of the Rio Grande Electric Cooperative.
Tate received a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado.
