Gov. Perry Appoints Teran to State Health Services Council

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Maria Teran of El Paso to the State Health Services Council for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2013. The council makes recommendations regarding the management, operation, policies and rules for public health, mental health and substance abuse.

Teran is president and chief executive officer of Sierra Machinery Inc. She is a member of the Associated General Contractors of America International and Equipment committees, Associated General Contractors of Texas and New Mexico, Texas Good Roads and Transportation Association Executive Committee, and the Association of Ingersoll-Rand Distributors. She is also a member of the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization Technical Advisory Committee and American Heritage Rivers Advisory Committee, and a board member of the El Paso Public Service Board and Weststar Bank Board of Directors.

Teran attended the University of Texas at El Paso.
