Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Family Practice Residency Advisory Committee
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Family Practice Residency Advisory Committee. The committee makes recommendations to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regarding the funding of family practice residency training programs.
Araceli Davis of San Antonio is retired from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and a licensed realtor. She is a member of the Military Officers Association of America and Alamo Couriers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, a heritage associate member of the Museum of South Texas History, and a mentor for the Unicorn Center in San Antonio. She is also a past mentor for the San Antonio Jewish Coalition for Literacy, and a past volunteer for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9303 in South Texas. Davis received an associate degree from San Antonio College. She is being reappointed for a term to expire Aug. 29, 2015.
Janet Meyers of Aubrey is secretary-treasurer of Aubrey Builders Inc. She is a member of the Aubrey City Council, Aubrey Chamber of Commerce and World War II Glider Pilots Association, and a volunteer at the Denton State Supported Living Center. She is also a founding member and past chair of Children's Vision for Tomorrow, past chair of the Texas On-Site Wastewater Treatment Research Council, and a past member of the City of Aubrey Planning and Zoning Committee. Meyers received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. She is appointed for a term to expire Aug. 29, 2014.
Linda Vega of Sugarland is an attorney in private practice and founder of Latinos Ready to Vote!. She is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico, Federal Bar Association and American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is also a volunteer attorney for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, Neighborhood Centers Inc. of Houston, and City of Houston Mayor's Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. Vega received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and a law degree from George Washington Law School. She is appointed for a term to expire Aug. 29, 2013.
