Gov. Perry Appoints Bruun to Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science Advisory Board
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Faye Bruun of Rockport to the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science Advisory Board for a term to expire May 2, 2018. The nine-member committee advises the dean of the academy on admission policies, curricula and other policies at the school located at the University of North Texas.
Bruun is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC). She is director of the College and Career Readiness Initiative Science Faculty Collaborative and Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair, and faculty advisor of the TAMU-CC Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and Texas Association of Mathematics Educators, secretary of the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and treasurer and past president of the Coastal Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She is also a member of the St. James Episcopal School Board of Trustees and a vestry member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Corpus Christi.
Bruun received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and doctorate of educational leadership from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.
