Gov. Perry Appoints Marcus to Texas Council on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Howard R. Marcus of Austin to the Texas Council on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The council educates, informs and coordinates activities to reduce the human and financial toll of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Marcus is a physician and general internist at Austin Regional Clinic. He is a member of the Texas and Travis County Medical associations and the Texas Academy of Internal Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and board chairman of Texas Alliance for Patient Access. He served in the National Health Service Corps.
Marcus received a bachelor's degree and a medical degree from Tufts University, and completed his internal medicine internship at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester.
