Gov. Perry Appoints Reis to Texas Physician Assistant Board

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Michael Reis of Woodway to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2013. The board establishes and maintains standards of excellence to regulate physician assistants and ensure quality health care through licensing, discipline and education.

Reis is a physician, chief medical officer and chairman of the Scott and White Healthcare System Department of Family Medicine in Temple. He is a member of the American and Texas Medical associations, American and Texas academies of Family Physicians, McLennan County Medical Society, and North American Primary Care Research Group. He is also a volunteer physician for the Mission Waco Health Clinic.

Reis received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, and completed his family practice internship and residency at the Memorial Hospital System in Houston.
