Gov. Perry Names Ramos Chair of Texas State Board of Dental Examiners

Gov. Rick Perry has named Rodolfo "Rudy" Ramos Jr. of Houston chair of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The board oversees licensing and regulation of dental care providers in Texas, and enforces state laws regulating the practice of dentistry.

Ramos is owner and president of Rudy Ramos D.D.S. P.C. He is a member of the Texas Dental Association, Academy of Dentistry International, Houston Dental Society and Memorial Drive United Methodist Church's Guatemala Mission Dental Team. He is also a board member of the Spring Branch Independent School District and Memorial Spring Branch Rotary Club, an advisory board member of International Hands in Service, and a past member of the U.S. Senate Conference Task Force on Hispanic Affairs.

Ramos received a bachelor's degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Doctor of dental surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental Branch at Houston.
