Gov. Perry Appoints Cathey to Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed James "Jim" Cathey of College Station to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The council advises and assists the Texas land commissioner with administration of the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program, which enables and facilitates the purchase and donation of agricultural conservation easements.
Cathey is an associate department head and educator in the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service wildlife and fisheries sciences extension unit. He is a member of the Wildlife Society, a member and past president of the Texas Wildlife Society, and a member and leader of the National eXtension Initiative Feral Hog Community of Practice committee. He is also a board member of the Texas Wildlife Association, a member and place committee chairman of Trinity Waters, and a member of the Texas Outdoor Partners Steering Committee.
Cathey received a bachelor's degree and master's degree of wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University, and a doctorate of fisheries and wildlife sciences from Texas Tech University.
