Gov. Perry Reappoints Hovel and Leeper to Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation Board of Directors
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry reappointed Thomas A. Leeper of Huntsville and Jo Van Hovel of Temple to the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation Board of Directors for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2013. The board oversees the provision of affordable housing for low income Texans.
Thomas Leeper of Huntsville is a shareholder and attorney with Smither, Martin, Henderson and Blazek, P.C. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Walker County Bar Association. Leeper serves on the board of directors for the Huntsville Education Foundation and is a committee member of Troop 114 Boy Scouts of America. He received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
Van Hovel is retired with more than 23 years experience in the real estate profession. She currently works part-time for Cen-Tex Homes in Temple and Killeen. Van Hovel is a former member of the National Conference of State Housing Boards and the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Board. She also volunteered with the Arts Advocacy Council and Civic Theater Guild in Temple.
These appointments are subject to senate confirmation.
