Gov. Perry Appoints Monty and Cooper To Texas Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Jacob Monty of Houston and Richard Cooper of Lubbock to the Texas Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors for terms to expire July 1, 2011. The company acts as a competitive force in the workers’ compensation market to guarantee the availability of workers’ compensation in Texas and to act as the insurer of last resort.
Monty is a managing partner with Monty Partners LLP, a labor and employment law firm. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Monty serves on the boards of the Hispanics for Opportunity Progress and Education, and the Hispanic Alliance for Progress. He is general counsel to the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans. A graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, he received a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
Cooper is president of National Travel Systems and is being reappointed to the board. He is a member of the American Society of Travel Agents, Cruise Lines International Association and Meeting Professionals International. Cooper serves as director of the Defense Orientation Conference Association. He received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.
