Gov. Perry Appoints Ellis, Schiermeyer to Texas Public Finance Authority
AUSTIN– Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Mark Ellis of Houston and Ruth Schiermeyer of Lubbock to the Texas Public Finance Authority. The finance authority issues and sells bonds for designated state agencies in order to finance the acquisition or construction of buildings.
Ellis is a certified financial planner and a partner with Ellis-Reisbord Financial Group. He serves on the Houston City Council and is a board member of the Houston Galveston Area Council, the Sharpstown Civic Association and the Institute of Certified Financial Planners. He is also a board member of the Sterling Bank Business Economic Development Board, the Greater Houston Southwest Chamber of Commerce and the University of Houston Alumni Association. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston where he also received his certification of completion from The Center for Executive Development. His term will expire Feb. 1, 2009.
Schiermeyer is an insurance agent with MassMutual and the managing partner of two farm partnerships. She is a member of the National Association of Life Underwriter, the Texas Association of Life Underwriters and the Lubbock Area of Life Underwriters. Schiermeyer serves on the board of the Life Gift Organ Donation Center, the Lubbock International Airport and the Lubbock Community Theatre. She is past chairman of the Southwest Institute for Addictive Diseases and served on the Brazos River Authority Board of Directors for 12 years. Schiermeyer received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. Her term will expire Feb. 1, 2007.
These appointments are subject to senate approval.
