Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Texas Tech University Board of Regents

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Dr. Bob Stafford of Amarillo, Windy Sitton of Lubbock and F. Scott Dueser of Abilene to the Texas Tech University Board of Regents.

Stafford is a retired orthopedic surgeon and a partner in Stafford Cattle Company of Matador. He is a board member of the Texas Tech Red Raider Club and chairs the Amarillo Area Texas Tech Horizon Campaign. Stafford serves as a member of the Texas Tech Chancellor’s Council and the Double T Association. A graduate of Texas Tech, he received his medical degree and postgraduate training in orthopedic surgery from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Stafford’s term will expire Feb. 1, 2007.

Sitton, who served three terms as mayor of Lubbock, owns Sitton’s Selections, a company that specializes in renovations of interiors and exteriors. She is a member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, appointed by Gov. Perry in 2002. President George W. Bush appointed her as the Federal Commissioner of the Canadian River Compact Commission in 2002. She is a member of Texas Tech Chancellor’s Council, the Red Raider Club and the executive committee of Marsha Sharp Leadership Circle. A graduate of North Texas, she earned a master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University, where she was honored a distinguished alumni. Sitton’s term will expire Feb. 1, 2009.

Dueser is president and CEO of First Financial Bankshares, Inc. He is past chair of the Texas Bankers Association and a board member of the Texas Tech Foundation, Texas Tech Chancellor’s Council and the Abilene Higher Education Authority. Dueser serves on the board of the Hendrick Medical Center Foundation and has been honored with the United Way of Abilene’s Volunteer Service Award and Big Brother/Big Sister of Abilene’s Vision Award. A graduate of Texas Tech, Dueser received his master’s at Southern Methodist University’s Southwestern Graduate School of Banking. Dueser’s term will expire Feb. 1, 2009.

These appointments are subject to senate confirmation.
