Gov. Perry Names Bacon to Joint Select Committee on Public School Finance
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the selection of Carolyn R. Bacon of Dallas to the Joint Select Committee on Public School Finance. House Speaker Tom Craddick established the committee to develop proposals for overhauling the school finance system in Texas.
Bacon is the executive director of the O’Donnell Foundation, which provides grants to support quality education. She also serves on the boards of the National Center for Educational Accountability, the College of Computing at Georgia Tech and Advanced Placement Strategies of Dallas. Bacon is a former member of the White House Education Policy and Advisory Council and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Board of Directors, where she was chair of the Education Committee. She also served on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and as chair of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board of Texas.
Bacon is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
