Gov. Perry Names Two to Teacher Retirement System's Board of Directors
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of two individuals to the Teacher Retirement System of Texas’ Board of Directors for terms to expire Aug. 31, 2009. The board is responsible for investing funds under its stewardship and for delivering benefits to members as authorized by the Texas Legislature.
John Graham of Fredericksburg is a financial advisor with American Express. He is a trustee for the Heritage School and a member of the Optimist Club. Graham is a retired Air Force colonel who served in Vietnam, Thailand, Spain, Germany and The Netherlands. His military honors include the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Graham earned his bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his master’s in business administration from Auburn University.
John Mark Henry is the superintendent for the Sulphur Springs Independent School District. He is vice chair of the University Interscholastic League’s Legislative Council and a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators. Henry also serves as a volunteer coach with a youth sports league. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree and a doctor of education degree from the University of North Texas in Denton.
