Gov. Perry Appoints Lang-Miers to 5th District Court of Appeals

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Elizabeth Lang-Miers of Dallas to serve as justice of the 5th Appellate District Court of Appeals, which covers Collin, Dallas, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall and Van Zandt counties. Lang-Miers, a partner with Locke Liddell & Sapp law firm, was appointed to a term that will run until the next general election, when she can opt to run for a full term.

Lang-Miers is past president of the Dallas Bar Association and a former director of the State Bar of Texas. She also is a member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association, the American Law Institute and the advisory board of the Dallas Association of Women Lawyers. Lang-Miers serves on the Texas Access to Justice Commission and is a fellow and trustee with both the Texas and Dallas Bar Foundations. She is a member of the Dallas Assembly and serves on the board of governors for The Dallas Foundation.

She earned her bachelor’s and law degrees at the University of Missouri.
